KSWA Megastars And More Gather For A Fantastic Cause—The Officer Paul J Scuillo Memorial Wrestling Event Is Here
by Trapper Tom, Ring Announcer/Wrestling Journalist
For most of 2010, the Megastars of the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance have been gearing up for what might be the most epic event this city has seen in decades: an event to honor a fallen hero, the late Paul J. Scuillo, this Saturday, September 4, 2010. Scuillo was killed in the line of duty, along with fellow officers Eric Kelly and Stephen Mayhle on Saturday, April 4, 2009. Scuillo was a pillar of the Bloomfield community.
The Memorial event, along with a tremendous Street Hockey Tournament and related activities all lead up to the Wrestling event at the Home of Professional Wrestling in Pittsburgh, the Lawrenceville Moose. The events have been planned and promoted by Eric Crouse, who has also found himself entangled with Frank Durso and the VIP’s. In recent weeks, Crouse has been on the business end of a couple of in-ring confrontations. He says that he answers to the VIP onslaught and they will be in attendance on Saturday.
In the Main Event, Pittsburgh’s own “Franchise” Shane Douglas is set to do battle with the muscle of the VIP’s “The Prime Time Player” Double-A Anthony Alexander. This Main Event promises to be an excellent contest between two veterans. Douglas has held many championships in his illustrious career, but he has never competed inside the squared-circle for Pittsburgh’s professional wrestling organization. Meanwhile, Alexander is a former KSWA Heavyweight Champion and stalwart in the promotion for many years. At a chiseled 240-lbs, Alexander has never been in better shape. Plus, now that he’s associated with the VIPs, he has a whole new attitude. However, Douglas is a proud competitor and is willing to do whatever is necessary to settle the score.
Eric Crouse will be in the corner of the current KSWA Heavyweight Champion The Latin Assassin and his Tag Team Partner, KSWA Hall of Famer and former Tag Team Champion Demolition Ax (he’s also know as a WWF Legend). Those two heavyweights will take on other members of the VIPs, “The Enforcer” Shawn Blanchard and “Dr. Devastation” Lou Martin. Crouse hopes to keep VIP “advisor” Frank Durso out of the fray. Add to the mix, KSWA Owner Bobby O who has inserted himself as the Special Referee and you have a powder keg ready to blow. The last time Durso say Ax, Durso was getting tossed around the Moose and the VIPs were losing the KSWA Tag Belts to Ax and Smash. This time, no titles are on the line. Just pride.
The “Paul J. Scuillo Memorial Over The Top Rope Battle Royal” will feature many KSWA Megastars, including Big Mike Malachi, Ali Kaida, The Great Toyota, “The Drunken Luchadore” Joey Quervo, “Vicious” Vinnie Stone, Biker Al, Blood Beast, Mitch Napier, Mike Buda, “Iceman” Tony Johnson, Jay Flash, Bobby Badfingers and the Jester.
In another tremendous Tag Team match, KSWA Hall of Famer Dominic DeNucci and the Clown Prince of Wrestling Doink makes his KSWA debut to battle the diabolical Lord Zoltan and a returning “Nasty” Nick Crane. Zoltan and Crane have found Tag Team success elsewhere, but this is their first time together in the KSWA. Crane managed Zoltan for one event about a year ago, but makes his return for this exemplary event. DeNucci, who entered the KSWA HOF earlier this year is excited to team with Doink, a definite crowd-pleaser.
The Golden Triangle Championship is on the line when current title holder “The King” Del Douglas defends against Justin Sane. These two Megastars had a great match at the Teamster’s Hall about a month ago when Douglas decided to be counted out. That won’t happen this time as 12 City of Pittsburgh Police Officers will man the outside in a Lumberjack Rules contest. Three Cops will stand near each corner post to represent the fallen officers. They will use force to make sure that the action stays inside the ring and that we have a winner. It will also be interesting to see how Douglas’ charge, The Jester, co-exists with the law enforcement professionals.
The KSWA Tag Team Championship is on the line as the relatively-new champs Kris Kash and Shane Starr defend against the hottest new team since—well the Lost Boys—in “Canadian Perfection” Drew Belanger and J.P. Goulet. Four young combatants will battle for the most prestigious Tag Team Championship around as the veterans Kash and Starr hold off upstarts Belanger and Goulet. The Canadian duo has impressed in limited outings, but so have Kash and Starr since they reunited earlier this year.
“The Paul J. Scuillo Memorial Wrestling Event” is this Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Home of Professional Wrestling in Pittsburgh, the Lawrenceville Moose, at 7:30 p.m. The Moose is located at 120 51st Street in the Lawrenceville neighborhood within the city of Pittsburgh. All tickets are $10 each. The Card is Subject to Change.
As an added attraction, a country music concert by Eddie Matthew will kick off the evening at 5:45 p.m. Eddie will also perform during Intermission. In addition the Civil Air Patrol Squad 603 Honor Guard will present the color of the American Flag for a live performance of our National Anthem.
