Longtime voice of IMPACT Wrestling Barry Scott passes away

MPACT Wrestling has announced the passing of longtime employee Barry Scott, who served the voice of the brand for several years.

Scott’s Wikipedia page indicates he passed away this month at the age was 65.  There was no cause of death mentioned.

Scott did the voiceover for the very first-ever TNA IMPACT episode on Spike TV that aired on October 1, 2005, and the intro for Bound For Glory 2005.

His last voiceover for IMPACT was earlier this year to give the personal introduction for TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose.

“The Lost 45s with Barry Scott” was in national syndication since 1993 that featured interviews with over 1000 recording artists, including Aretha Franklin, Carole King and Barry Gibb.  

Scott also appearred as a music expert on VH1’s Behind The Music, CNN and The Howard Stern Show.  In addition, he did voiceover work for the NBA, and authored a book about music, titled We Had Joy, We Had Fun: The Lost Recording Artists of the Seventies, and compiled a number of commercial CD collections.

He also raised money for various causes over, including a five-year Boston radiothon and concert to fight HIV/AIDS.
