As per new reports from PWInsider and FW4Online, Brian Cage who defeated Johnny Impact to capture the Impact World Heavyweight Championship at the Rebellion PPV Sunday night in Toronto was rushed to the hospital after the match.
Both reports indicate that Cage’s injury is legitimate and not part of an angle or storyline.
Impact Wrestling noted on Twitter that Cage had been rushed to the emergency room following the match and that more updates are to come.
The injury is believed to have occurred when Cage took a Spanish Fly off the ramp and onto the floor.
Cage finished the match, including the post-match angle where he was confronted by the debuting Michael Elgin who gave him a back fist punch followed by an Elgin bomb, setting up a possible future World Championship match.
It should be noted that during the match Cage had noticeable cupping marks all over his back. Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which special cups are put on your skin to create suction to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, and can also be considered as a form of deep-tissue massage.
