Title changes hands at AEW Dynasty on Sunday night

Bandido is the new Ring of Honor World Champion. Bandido defeated Chris Jericho in the Title vs. Mask Match at AEW Dynasty on Sunday to win the title for a second time.

Below are excerpts from Alex Kahrs’ AEW Dynasty recap of how the title change almost didn’t happen…

…the challenger fights back, hitting a knee on Jericho before looking to the ropes…but Jericho counters, sending Bandido to the mat before locking in the Walls of Jericho! Bandido is trapped as he tries to get to the ropes. He crawls over, making it to the ropes as the ref intervenes to break the count. Jericho goes off on the ref, only for Bandido to lay him out with a thrust kick sending the champ to the mat. Bryan Keith comes hobbling down the ramp to intervene, but Gravity runs down to even the odds as officials deal with the situation…and this gives Jericho an opening as he pulls a baseball bat out, landing a hard shot on Bandido before tossing the bat aside! He brings Bandido to the middle of the ring for the cover…and gets the pin to retain the title and win Bandido’s mask!…

…Over at ringside, Aubrey Edwards is conversing with Bandido’s family who explain Jericho’s transgressions as the champ insists on taking the challenger’s mask off. A conversation with ref Bryce Remsburg leads to the announcement being made…this match must restart!

Jericho is livid as he goes after the family, only for Bandido to land a nasty shot on the champ…followed by the 21 Plex for the pin and the win to become the new ROH Champion!

Sunday’s event emanated from the Liacouras Center on the Campus of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
