On Saturday WWE’s Drew McIntyre set off speculation when he posted to X about using real glass during his backstage segment with Damian Priest on Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
McIntyre said he was not injured, but did have a piece of glass in his eye.
According to PWInsider, after speaking with sources in WWE, McIntyre received treatment to have something removed from his eye following the angle However, it was determined that it what was cleared was actually not glass. PWInsider notes that they were also told McIntyre was seen by WWE’s medical team before leaving the O2 Arena.
In addition, McIntyre was seen wearing an eye patch backstage after the angle. PWInsider further notes he did tell others real glass was removed from his eye.
McIntyre is not at Saturday’s WWE house show in Austria, as he was not scheduled for the event and not actually pulled from the road.
