How much of an effect did WWE Raw moving to Netflix have on subscriptions?

According to a new report from Deadline, WWE Monday Night Raw moving to Netflix caused an influx of new subscriptions.

The publication also notes that during the final quarter of 2024, the streaming service added 19 million new subscribers. This number is well above the expectation of Wall Street analysts for 9.8 million subscriber additions, also according to Deadline’s report.

Furthermore Deadline notes the subscriber tally of 301.6 million according to Netflix does not include any “extra member” accounts activated via paid password sharing. The total audience for Netflix per the company is at 700 million globally.

Deadline is also reporting that Netflix will be raising it’s prices in the United States, Canada Portugal. The low-cost tier with advertising is going from $6.99 to $7.99 a month in the U.S., up from that level where it started in 2022. The Standard plan, which is the most popular is going to bow be $17.99, up from $15.49. The top-level Premium plan will go from $22.99 to $24.99. It was noted there will be no change to the $6.99 charge to add another subscriber to the ad tier as part of the streaming service’s paid password sharing plan.

Netflix released the following statement:

“As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix,” the company wrote in its quarterly letter to shareholders. “To that end, we are adjusting prices today across most plans in the US, Canada, Portugal and Argentina (which was already factored into the 2025 guidance we provided in October 2024).”
