Lyra Valkyria
Valkyria defeated Dakota Kai in the finals on Raw, live on Netflix from the SAP Center in San Jose, CA to become the first-ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
Below is an excerpt from Mike Tedesco’s WWE Raw recap of how it all went down.
Kai goes for a Go To Kick, but Valkyria counters it. Valkyria hits a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Valkyria kicks her in the face and heads to the top rope. Valkyria hits a diving leg drop to the injured back for a two-count. Valkyria goes for a move, but Kai counters and hits a Scorpion Kick. Kai hangs her on the ropes and stomps her down. Kai hits the GTK, but Valkyria rolls out of the ring to save herself. Kai cannot believe it and desperately tries to get her in the ring, but Valkyria is dead weight at ringside. Kai goes for a running boot, but Valkyria moves. Valkyria hits a reverse headlock backbreaker. Valkyria follows up with a Night Wing to become the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion!
After the match WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce entered the ring and put the title around Valkyria’s waist. Kai shook hands with Valkyria and held up her arm. Valkyria posed as pyrotechnics went off.
