Report: Janel Grant set to amend lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis

According to a new report from POST Wrestling, the attorneys for former WWE paralegal indicated in new court filings that Janel Grant plans to modify her lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis.

POST Wrestling also notes the amended complaint is expected to be filed on January 15, 2025, nearly a year after the initial lawsuit which was filed. It was also noted that it remains unclear what specific changes Grant plans to make in her amended complaint.

Grant’s original 67-page complaint contains several graphic details with allegations of sexual assault against McMahon and Laurinaitis. Grant also includes accusing Vince McMahon of sex trafficking, also naming Brock Lesnar associated with what is being said was potential sexual encounters which was part of renegotiating his talent contract with WWE.

WWE President Nick Khan and former WWE executives Brad Blum, Stephanie McMahon, and Brian Nurse were aware of McMahon’s behavior with Grant, thus making a further argument that this indeed makes WWE liable as well. Only McMahon and Laurinaitis are being accused of abuse. WWE stated last year that Khan had no knowledge of the sexual abuse allegation made by Grant before she filed the lawsuit.

Over the summer, while the federal case was put on pause, Grant was involved in a litigation case in the state of Connecticut against Dr. Carlon Colker and his Peak Wellness clinic that brought forth more allegations. Grant notes that Vince McMahon sent her to Colkers clinic numerous times for treatment that included being given supplements and infusions with no specific reasons as to why she was sent to clinic for the treatments. As part of the litigation, Grant requested Colker and his clinic disclose her medical records.

The defendants are continuing to push for moving the case out of public court and into private arbitration, citing the arbitration clause in the nondisclosure agreement that was signed between McMahon and Grant back in January 2022.

POST Wrestling further notes that under federal court rules, Grant is allowed to amend her complaint only once without permission from the court.

In the new filing, which was made on Thursday, January 2, 2025, Grant’s side submitted email exhibits showing communications from Ann Callis to the defense. The emails indicate Callis informed the defense back on December 16 of Grant’s plan to amend her complaint by January 15, 2025 and proposed a schedule for future filings. Furthermore Grant’s side did ask the court for a status conference next week to discuss the schedule. If the judge does rule that a conference is not necessary, Grant’s counsel has thus requested that the court formally lift the stay and set a schedule for the due dates for each sides next filings.
