Former AEW World Champion and AEW Executive Vice President Kenny Omega made his return to the company during Saturday night’s Worlds End pay-per-view in Orlando, FL.
Omega’s return took place following Kazuchika Okada retaining the Continental Championship after defeating Will Ospreay.
Below is an excerpt from Alex Kahrs’ AEW Worlds End recap featuring Omega’s return.
We see Ospreay being attended to as Okada celebrates his win, adding to his four G1 wins in New Japan for a very impressive streak. Ospreay is met with a handshake from the champ, a sign of sportsmanship before Ospreay leaves the ring to allow Okada to continue his celebration…until Christopher Daniels steps out to the stage.
Daniels congratulates Okada on winning the Continental Classic and retaining the title. Normally he would be here to present the title to Okada, but he cannot do that as he is no longer an EVP of All Elite Wrestling. However…this man is.
With that, the music hits as Kenny Omega makes his way out to the stage to a big pop from the crowd. He stares Okada down from the stage, before taking the Continental Championship from its pedestal and heading down the ramp. Kenny steps into the ring, presenting the title to its rightful owner after a successful run in the Continental Classic…but the two New Japan rivals can’t help but stare each other down as Okada raises his title up high. Omega gives Okada a round of applause before stepping onto the apron to a chant of “Omega” from the crowd before he makes his way back up the ramp while Okada continues to celebrate his big victory tonight. Omega stops at the stage, once again staring Okada down as the latter’s music resumes once more.
Omega has been out of in-ring action since December 2023 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis and then needing to undergo surgery. Omega’s last appearance on AEW programming was during the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite when the Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry attacked him.
Omega is scheduled to wrestle Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty in Tokyo Dome on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
