Report: WWE no longer holding Tribute to the Troops; NXT Level Up discontinued

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, per a source at WWE has confirmed that the company will not longer be holding their annual Tribute to the Troops specials.

Meltzer noted Tribute to the Troops first debuted back in December 2003 and was created by Vince McMahon and WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield. WWE took the shows to Baghdad, Iraq, and aired it on Christmas. After 2009, the specials were moved to various military bases around the United States and then eventually were filmed as standalone TV specials that aired on NBC and FOX. Only one episode, which was in 2019 did not air on television. The last episode was in December 2023.

Per Bodyslam.net and Fightful Select, the NXT Level Up show has also been discontinued. The final episodes were filmed during last Thursday’s NXT television tapings. It is said that NXT Level Up will be replaced by the new WWE LFG reality show, which is set to debut on A&E sometime in early 2025.

NXT Level Up first debuted back in February 2022 Friday night’s on Peacock and the WWE Network at 10:00 pm ET. It replaced 205 Live. It should be noted that with the cancelation of Level Up, SmackDown will move to a three-hour format beginning on Friday, January 3.
