Title changes hands at AEW Full Gear on Saturday night

Daniel Garcia is the new TNT Champion.

Garcia defeated Jack Perry to win the championship, at AEW Full Gear at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday night.

Below is an excerpt from Alex Kahrs’ AEW Full Gear recap of how the title change went down.

The two slug it out before Perry sets Garcia up on the canvas, driving him into the opposite turnbuckle before dropping him down for a nearfall. Perry leaves the ring, grabbing the TNT Championship from the timekeeper area before bringing it into the ring…but instead of using it, he drops the title to the mat.

He drops to his knees, imploring Garcia to prove himself by using the title on him…but Garcia gives the title to the ref instead! This proves costly as the ref is distracted with taking the belt out, as Perry hits him with a low blow and a running knee for the cover…only for the challenger to kick out! Perry goes to the corner for a running kick, but stops when Garcia drops down. He sets the challenger up again, but is countered with a jackknife cover that gets him a two count. Garcia drops the champ with a leg catcher piledriver, but Perry manages to kick out again!

The two fight their way up to their feet, before Garcia laying in some chops sending Perry to the ropes. Jack can’t help but smile in defiance, but Garcia takes him down with a piledriver before cinching in a Dragontamer! Perry crawls to the ropes, but Garcia pulls him back in to the middle! He leans back to add more punishment, and the Scapegoat has no choice but to tap out as we have a new TNT Champion!
