Fightful Select has provided a report on the internal reaction within WWE of Samantha Irvin’s departure. Irvin announced on social media Monday that her time as the ring announcer for Raw has come to an end.
The report notes there are many within WWE that were surprised by Irvin’s departure. It is also said that some of the WWE staff indicated that Irvin’s announcement was so sudden that she “couldn’t have possibly informed everyone before leaving.” There are also some within WWE that told Fightful Select that WWE had been expecting Irvin to make her exit from the company at some time in time, given that her real-life fiancé Ricochet left WWE back in July and is now part of the active AEW roster.
Fightful Select further notes that the news of Irivin’s departure has been met with sadness within WWE, as she was loved by so many staff and talent backstage. Some within WWE said that Irvin’s presence at Raw tapings “made the workday better.”
The report concluded that speculation has already begun that Irvin’s exit from WWE could lead her to joining AEW and that those within would be “shocked” if Tony Khan didn’t try to sign her or at least approach her with some kind of an offer.
