Report on possible plans for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Dave Meltzer, in his latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, has provided possible plans for December’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The report notes that Ventura’s role is yet to be determined and that it is likely he will be involved in a promo segment or calling one match on the show. Last month, former AWA wrester Greg Gagne said during an edition of Straight Talk with The Boss, he heard that WWE was going to use Ventura on the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event special.

The 73-year-old WWE Hall of Famer announced back on October 10 that he officially signed legends deal with WWE. He also said “bigger and better” are things coming, but did provide any specific details.

Meltzer also said that there could be a possible WWE Undisputed Championship Match on the show, with Cody Rhodes defending against Kevin Owens.

Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place on December 14, from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. It will air live coast-to-coast on Peacock and NBC. It will air in primetime with a start-time of 8:00 pm ET. The venue hosted the very first-ever Saturday Night’s Main Event, which aired May 11, 1985 on NBC. It originally aired from 1985 to 1992. It then made a comeback and lasted from 2005 to 2008.

As part of WWE and NBCUniversal’s new five-year television deal that brought SmackDown back to the USA Network, Saturday Night’s Main Event is now back for a third run on NBC as a quarterly special airing live coast to coast on NBC and Peacock.
