Backstage news on reports of Lucha Bros signing with WWE

Both PWInsider and Fightful Select have provided details on reports of the Lucha Bros signing with WWE.

According to the report by PWInsider, Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix are still currently under contract with AEW. It was also said there would be interest in them from WWE if they ended up “free and clear.” The report further notes that even though the two have not appeared on AEW programming as of late, a source close to the former AEW World Tag Team Champions said they have been in communication with AEW and are available to wrestle if needed.

PWInsider concluded by saying that there is, however, an expectation that when the contracts for Penta and Fenix expire, they would be WWE-bound.

Per the report from Fightful Select, also notes the Lucha Bros are still under contract with AEW. Fightful noted in their report that one source indicated the tag team’s transition to another company “won’t be as smooth as expected, as Fenix is believed to still be under contract with AEW.

It was further noted by Fightful Select that no comments were provided when they reached out to AEW and WWE regarding the Lucha Bros. At the time of this writing, the Lucha Bros still appear on AEW’s roster page.

Penta had previously said that he and Fenix were a package deal and that he wanted to go directly to the main roster if they sign with WWE.
