According to TMZ, the domestic violence arrest charges against Artem Chigvintsev (current husband of WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella), has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office by the Napa County Sheriff. Formal charges could be coming.
Chigvintsev’s arraignment is currently scheduled for November 4.
Napa County District Attorney Spokesperson Carlos Villatoro told TMZ that their office is currently reviewing the case and no decision has been made yet on charges Chigvintsev may face. The D.A., however will make a decision after a thorough review of the case and will then make a public announcement.
Villatoro further stated to TMZ that the D.A.’s office still needs to review witness statements, footage from the incident, photos that may have been taken or anything else that the police found during their investigation.
Chigvintsev was arrested last Thursday for corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant after allegedly attacking wife Nikki Bella, resulting in a visible injury that caused his arrest.
TMZ obtained the 911 radio dispatch call, which confirms Chigvintsev called for medical assistance, before calling back and then asking paramedics not to come. Police still did respond and arrested him at the scene. The 911 radio dispatch further reveals that Nikki threw shoes at Chigvintsev.
During the call, in which the dispatcher said “Initially came in as requesting medical, but now he is stating he got into an argument with his wife and his wife threw shoes at rp [reporting party].” The dispatcher further notes, “There is a child on scene. Medical en route,” adding, “There’s an active 415 [disturbing the peace] in the background responsible.” TMZ further added that when the call had Chigvintsev request paramedics to be called off, this reflects why the dispatcher who says, “RP is stating no medical is needed now.”
When Police showed up an hour later, and saw visible injuries on the alleged victim, that is when they arrested Chigvintsev for felony corporal injury to a spouse.
