Bret Hart says involvement in Owen Hart Cup might ‘ruffle WWE’s feathers’

During a virtual signing with Signed By Superstars, Bret Hart was asked if he had been approached to get involved with AEW’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

The WWE Hall of Famer stated no one from the company has contacted him about it, adding:

I’d have to think about it. I like Tony and I’d be happy to help out but I don’t know if I want to go down… I think it might ruffle WWE’s feathers and I get all my (royalties), everything tied in through them. But then again, it can’t hurt to ask.

Owen, the younger brother of the Hitman, tragically passed away during the WWE (then World Wrestling Federation) pay-per-view Over The Edge in May 1999.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of his passing, as well as the subsequent founding of the Owen Hart Foundation by his widow, Martha Hart.

The third annual men’s and women’s tournaments concluded on July 10 in the Harts’ hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Candada, with Bryan Danielson and Mariah May winning the cup in their respective brackets.
