Meiko Satomura challenges WWE Women’s Champion at Tokyo live event

Following an eight-woman tag team match at a recent WWE live event in Tokyo, Meiko Satomura cut an in-ring promo challenging Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at the next night’s event at Sumo Hall.

The champion accepted the challenge, later posting on social media that the match will be “an absolute honor”:

The match comes after Tokyo Sports recently reported that Satomura is set to retire from in-ring competition, with her last match taking place next spring as she celebrates the 30th anniversary of her pro wrestling debut next April.

The WWE Women’s Championship is set to be defended against the 2024 Queen of the Ring, Nia Jax, at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 3 from Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
