Damian Priest: Money In The Bank flub ‘doesn’t affect anything’

In an interview with the New York Post, Damian Priest talked about his rise in WWE, particularly since winning the World Heavyweight Championship.

Priest, who cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase to win the title at WrestleMania 40, also addressed the apparent flub during his championship match earlier this month in Toronto, looking to set the record straight for those stating he “forgot” to kick out prior to Drew McIntyre making his way to the ring:

We don’t forget to kick out. Twenty years in, I’m pretty sure there is some kind of muscle memory there. So me forgetting was not the case. There was nothing outside that was supposed to happen. It was a matter of there was a situation, but I’m OK. Everybody’s fine, the story continues.

It doesn’t affect anything. The show goes on and I think fans are very invested in everything that’s going on. The ones that matter knew the situation and nobody thought twice about it.

Priest is the subject of an upcoming WWE 24 documentary, set to premiere on Peacock on August 5 following a live screening at The Agora Cleveland during SummerSlam weekend.

The champion defends his World Heavyweight Championship against the 2024 King of the Ring, Gunther, at the SummerSlam premium live event on August 3 from Cleveland Browns Stadium.
