Reason Samoa Joe lost to Chris Jericho in Stampede Street Fight on 7/10 AEW Dynamite

According to PWInsider, the reason Samoa Joe was driven through a wall by Chris Jericho in their Stampede Street Fight on the 7/10 episode of Dynamite and lost the match, is because Joe is likely being written of AEW TV is because he will be returning as Sweet Tooth for the second season of Twisted Metal, which streams on Peacock.

The second season is expected to begin shooting in Toronto later this month. PWInsider notes they were told by numerous sources, the series is scheduled to film at least through October.

PWInsider also noted they were told the plot for season 2 will feature the following basic plot line: “Following the finale of season one, John (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) find themselves entering the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso.  As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including in the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated when he reunites with his long-long sister, the vigilante Dollface.”

It was further said by PWInsider, they have confirmed a number of WWE talent including Montez Ford, Cedric Alexander, and Apollo Crews auditioned for a new character named Axel. However, it was added that production is moving forward without any of the WWE talents having been cast in the role.

The report concluded by noting the second two will also feature a number of new characters, some of which have been adapted from The Twisted Metal video game, including Mr. Grimm, Ashley and Bug as well as Calypso.
