Fightful Select has provided backstage details on the departure of Dijak from WWE.
Dijak took to social media on Thursday, announcing that WWE would not be renewing his contract, thus making him a free agent on June 28.
According to Fightful Select, Dijak received the news of his contract not being renewed, sometime after his recent WWE Speed match that he had against Xavier Woods.
In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp that will be released on Friday, Dijak speculated that WWE’s intentions was to let his contract expire for quite sometime.
According to sources within WWE and NXT, Dijak was very well liked by company officials. Despite some minor creative differences he had with Shawn Michaels, it was said that the WWE Hall of Famer was a strong supporter of Dijak and also personally welcomed him back to the NXT brand and even to go through more training in the New Hampshire area.
Talent told Fightful Select they had questioned why Dijak was not being used on Raw. Dijak told Sapp he suspected something was not right when creative did not include him in any storylines or plans for Raw, soon after the draft took place.
Sources close to Dijak told Fightful Select that preliminary contract talks had been positive, but that WWE did not follow up with him, until he was told that his contract was not going to be renewed, without any serious talks and negotiations. It was also said that former WWE talent expressed to Fightful Select, they were surprised at the lack of effort on the part of WWE not to retain Dijak. The same talent felt that if this happened years ago, Dijak’s deal would have been renewed.
