WWE’s new lead writer for Friday Night SmackDown revealed, backstage notes

According to a new report from Fightful Select, long-time WWE creative writer John Swikata has now been promoted as the new lead writer for Friday Night SmackDown.

It was noted that Switaka replaces Ryan Callahan in the role, as Fightful said they were told Callahan has officially left WWE. Furthermore, it was said that Switaka has been with WWE for several years.

Fightful Select concluded their report by saying that a source within WWE said Switaka has already made a ‘huge impact’ with the storylines and angles, pointing out the direction seen during last Friday night’s episode of SmackDown.

Last Friday’s episode of SmackDown was said to have been heavily praised by wrestling fans and also reportedly has received high praise internally by WWE Executives.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown moves from FOX, back to the USA Network beginning on September 13, in what is a new five-year deal with NBCUniversal.
