UPDATED 6/9/24 @ 6:00 pm ET.
Fightful Select has provided their own update on Sunday regarding Ricochet’s status with WWE. The publication notes there is a “high likelihood” he will end up in AEW.
The report also notes WWE has creative plans already in place in preparation for Ricochet’s potential exit from the company, which was much more than him dropping the Speed Title to Andrade at the taping last Friday. Furthermore, Fightful indicates creative pitches have been made on how to write Ricochet off WWE programming, if and when the time actually comes. One idea Fightful notes is that Ricochet would be completely taken out by Bron Breakker.
AEW talent and staff were said to be speaking about the possibility of Ricochet signing a deal with the company. It should be noted that AEW and Ricochet cannot yet legally discuss a contract until his deal with WWE if officially up.

It was first reported by PWInsider on Saturday that Ricochet had told WWE that he was set to leave the company after his contract expired. It was also stated that Ricochet would be written out of storylines in the next few weeks.
However, in a new update, as per F4WOnline, the relationship between WWE and Ricochet might not be done yet after all. Dave Meltzer reported on Sunday that “according to those close to the situation, everything is up in the air.”
The news of Ricochet potentially leaving stirred up some excitement that Ricochet could potentially have a rematch with his NJPW rival Will Ospreay in AEW.
Ricochet dropped the WWE Speed Title to Andrade, in a match that was taped on Friday night after SmackDown went off the air. That match will air on a future episode of the X exclusive.
