Former WWE Superstar Virgil has passed away

Wrestleview is sad to report that former WWE Superstar Virgil (real name Mike Jones), has passed away at age 61.

Referee Mark Charles III first broke the news on his Facebook page.

“My dear friends, it is with great sorrow that I bring news from the Jones family of the passing of our beloved Michael Jones, whom we know and loved as Virgil, Vincent, Soul Train Jones and more.
Virgil passed peacefully at the hospital this morning and I ask that you pray for him and for his family.

May his memory be eternal!

Jones, as Virgil was best known as Ted DiBiase’s bodyguard in WWE.

Jones began his wrestling career in 1985 in the Championship Wrestling Association in Memphis, under the name of Soul Train Jones. He joined the WWE in 1986 as the bodyguard of Ted DiBiase.

After his WWE run ended in 1995, he spent a year on the independent circuit and then joined WCW in 1996 as Vincent, where he was a member of the NWO.

He made appearances in AEW between 2019 and 2020, associating himself with Chris Jericho.

In April 2022, Jones was suffered from two strokes and was diagnosed with dementia.
