Extent of Seth Rollins’ injury revealed

According to Fightful Select, current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins tore his MCL and also has a partially torn meniscus.

As of Fightful Select’s report, it is not known if he will require surgery. It is said that WWE and Rollins hope surgery can be avoided if possible.

It is also not known at this time, how WWE will address this on their TV programming and if this will change any current and long-term plans. Furthermore, Fightful Select notes that it is not clear if Rollins’ injury will be downplayed by WWE or not.

Fightful Select concluded by saying WWE sources told them Rollins has been very tough and has shown much resolve with this situation, especially with the injury happening during his match.

We previously reported, per PWInsider Elite that Rollins has been removed from the card for this weekend’s house shows at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, Alabama, and the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi.

The report from PWInsider Elite also noted that WWE is now advertising Randy Orton as the substitute for Rollins at both house shows.

Rollins suffered the injury during his title defense against Jinder Mahal on the 1/15 episode of WWE Raw. Reports had indicated that he may have injured his left leg late in the match. The belief is that Rollins tweaked his leg after hitting Mahal with a lionsault. Reports further noted that backstage Rollins was able to walk on his own, but seen with a definite limp.
