According to PWInsider on Sunday, Jade Cargill is expected to be in WWE shortly.
PWInsider also notes Cargill’s contract with AEW has expired and that she is scheduled to report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando sometime this week.
Cargill’s departure from AEW was discussed in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter with Dave Meltzer. In the publication, Meltzer said those in WWE believed Cargill was coming and that it would be on the main roster rather than developmental. Meltzer also said that a person within WWE described it to him that her name was being talked about a lot, but the deal was not completed at the time the latest newsletter was published. It was further said that the money it would take to get her would have been far more than they pay those in developmental and that while she has a star look and is a great athlete, her skill set and experience level is not at WWE’s main roster woman levels. However, WWE has good workers to make the less experienced and more marketable workers look better than they are. Meltzer closed by saying that another person in WWE described this as coming out of the blue, but that they do expect her to be coming in.
The 31-year-old Cargill finished up with AEW last Wednesday at the Rampage taping at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, where her husband Brandon Phillips played most of his Major League Baseball career. F4WOnline also notes in their report Mark Sterling held up a Cincinnati Reds jersey with Phillips’ name and number on the back as Cargill made her ring entrance on the show. Phillips was in attendance as well. The match aired on last Friday’s Rampage, where Cargill was unsuccessful in recapturing the TBS Title from Kris Statlander.
Cargill won her first 60 matches in AEW, as she became the first ever TBS Champion, having defeated Ruby Soho on the January 5, 2022 episode of Dynamite that debuted on TBS. She lost her final two matches against Kris Statlander. F4WOnline further notes Cargill held the TBS Championship for 508 days.
