Report: CM Punk involved in backstage incident in AEW with William Regal upon his debut

According to an exclusive report from BodySlam.net, multiple sources have confirmed that CM Pun allegedly had an incident with William Regal when Regal debuted in AEW.

The report notes that following Regal’s AEW debut at the 2022 Revolution pay-per-view, Punk “refused” to shake hands with Regal. It was also noted by the same multiple sources that Punk told Regal he did not “like him or trust him” because he was one of “Triple H’s stooges.”

Regal left AEW back in December 2022 and then returned to WWE in January 2023. It was further noted in the report Regal’s reason for leaving AEW was believed to have been any issues pertaining Punk, but so that he could help coach his son Charlie Dempsey, who is currently part of the NXT roster. Regal works backstage within WWE and is also the Vice President of Global Talent Development.

AEW CEO, President and General Manager Tony Khan announced on Twitter (X), just hours before Collision went live on the air, that he terminated Punk’s contract with AEW effective immediately. Punk’s termination from AEW was due to the altercation he had backstage with Jack Perry at the All In PPV which took place on August 27 at Wembley Stadium in London. Khan also noted his decision to fire Punk was due to the recommendation from outside legal counsel and an investigation by a disciplinary committee. In addition, Khan said he felt his “security, safety, and life” had been in danger and no one should come to work feeling that way.
