WWE had also considered having the match take place at the upcoming Payback PLE on September 2. Lynch and Stratus were reportedly not happy with the booking changes.
Speaking on Thursday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the time constraints regarding SummerSlam. He also mentioned that the status of Rhea Ripley defending the World Women’s Championship against Raquel Rodriguez is unclear.
Meltzer speculated WWE could “storyline clear” Rodriguez and they could do surprise match the day of SummerSlam. He added that because of the set time, WWE does not not want to short-change any of the matches.
