William Regal took to Twitter to clarify is AEW departure and to refute any misinformation on why he left the company.
Regal began working with WWE again at the start of 2023. His is Vice President of Global Talent Development for WWE.
Tony Khan had stated at the time that Regal had asked AEW not to pick up his contract option for another year. Also at the time, Khan’s mother had a stroke as was in the hospital.
Khan explained that Regal wanted to go back to WWE to spend time with his son Charlie Dempsey, who wrestles for NXT. Khan gave his timeline of events, saying he was conversing with Regal while his mom was also sick in the hospital.
