News From 3/29 AEW Dynamite: Kenny Omega attacked; Don Callis legitimately injured

Bryan Danielson returned to AEW Dynamite, attacking Kenny Omega after successfully retaining the IWGP United States Championship over Jeff Cobb.

Below is an excerpt from Alex Kahrs’ AEW Dynamite recap of how it all went down.

The former AEW World title challenger appeared on Wednesday’s Dynamite, joining the Blackpool Combat Club in a beatdown of Kenny Omega after his victory over Jeff Cobb.

Danielson looked as if he was going to aid Omega after Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli jumped Omega after the match. His music hit and after he came out, he motioned for them to leave the ring in an apparent show of peace.

He then lined up for a busaiku knee and nailed Omega with it, followed by him joining the BCC in a further attack on Omega. The Young Bucks were injured on last week’s Dynamite while Don Callis and Hangman Page were taken out earlier on this week’s show, leaving all of them unable to assist. This was Danielson’s first appearance after delivering an emotional speech on the post-Revolution Dynamite several weeks ago where he said he was taking a break following his loss to AEW World Champion MJF in their 60+ minute Iron Man match.

Don Callis legitimately injured on Dynamite

According to a report from PWInsider and F4WOnline, during the backstage segment on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite when The Blackpool Combat Club attacked Don Callis and Hangman Page, Callis was legitimately injured.

PWInsider notes that Callis hit his his head while going down after being punched by Jon Moxley and was legitimately busted open.

The report by PWInsider concluded by saying what the announcers said about Callis being checked out backstage was 100 percent legitimate as he was absolutely “dinged up”.
