AEW officially signs former IMPACT and NXT star

Tony Khan took to Twitter to announce Taya Valkyrie is All Elite.

There has been much speculation that Valkyrie would be Jade Cargill’s opponent in her TBS Championship Canadian Open Challenge on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. However, Valkyrie showed up after Cargill quickly beat Nicole Matthews.

Below is an excerpt from Alex Kahrs’ Dynamite recap of how it all went down:

Rene Paquette heads to the ring for a post-match interview but is nearly threatened by the champ, who asks if that’s all they have…before Taya Valkyrie’s music hits, bringing the international superstar out to the stage to a big pop from the crowd! Jade’s mood definitely changes here as Taya makes her way to the ring, enjoying the moment before staring down the champion. They have a few words for each other before Layla Grey intervenes, giving Jade to leave the ring as Layla tries to attack Taya…taking Jade’s own finisher from Taya in the process! Sterling runs down to keep Jade from getting involved as we cut backstage.

Valkyrie still holds the record for the longest reigning IMPACT Knockouts Champion at 377 days. She previous wrestled in NXT as Franky Monet.

The Death Dollz (Valkyrie & Jessicka) are defending the IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team titles against The Coven (Taylor Wilde & KiLynn King) on the episode of IMPACT Wrestling that airs Thursday on AXS TV. Valkyrie finished up with IMPACT Wrestling at the last set of their television tapings.

She also currently holds the MLW Women’s Featherweight Championship. She will be defending the title against Delmi Exo at the War Chamber tapings in New York City on Thursday, April 6.
