According to a report on Friday by F4WOnline, the WWE show scheduled to take place in Hyderabad, India in January has been postponed.
Last month we reported that WWE would be running a huge event in India on January 18, 2023. The event would have been two years after the WWE Superstar Spectacle, a show filmed at the Thunderdome in Tampa Bay back in 2021, which was only produced for the Indian market. The show on India’ Republic Day on January 26, 2021.
The report also notes WWE’s Indian broadcast partner, Sony Six, is merging with Zee and thus decided to put off the live show until after the merger is a done deal. Furthermore, it was said the storyline on NXT involving Veer & Sanga vs. The Creed Brothers was initially postponed to ensure Veer would be healthy for the show in India. Veer has been dealing with a minor hand injury.
F4WOnline concluded by noting WWE live events in India are part of the company’s deal signed with Sony Six. Both companies signed a five-year extension back in 2020 which included an agreement for WWE to return to India with “bigger live events” and for WWE Superstars to tour the country and engage with fans.
