Dwayne Johnson’s first-ever DC Comic film “Black Adam” is expected to bring in somewhere in the area of $60-$62 million domestically this weekend, making it the best-ever domestic opening for any Dwayne Johnson-led film. Internationally, the film is expected to bring in around $70 million, bring a total opening weekend at $130 million world-wide.
It is being said the hope within Warner Bros. Discovery is the film will help provide quality to the DC Cinematic Universe with new momentum under the new leadership of WBD.
The Black Adam character first debuted in 1945. The character is an ancient Egyptian predecessor of DC Comics character Shazam. Back in September 2014, the original plan was to introduce Black Adam as the villain in the Shazam! film series. However, Johnson persuaded Warner Bros for Black Adam to be introduced in his own film, allowing for two separate franchises to be launched instead.
