“Unfortunately, tonight, I’m going to be the bearer of some unfortunate news. As everyone knows, the House of Black has had some issues lately. As all the members of the house, I’m speaking for them all, we want to thank you all for being members of the house. Unfortunately, I, like some of the other members, need to go away for a while. I need to recalibrate. I need to figure out some things. As my brother Malakai once said, this isn’t goodbye, this is see you later.”

Buddy Matthews appears to be done with AEW, at least for the foreseeable future.
At a Fight Life Pro Wrestling event this weekend, during his promo, Matthews said that he needs to go away for a while – needs to recalibrate – needs to figure out some things. He then went on to say “as my brother Malakai once said, this isn’t goodbye, this is see you later.”
It’s believed the spot with The Great Muta spraying the mist in the eyes of Matthews on this past Friday’s Rampage Grand Slam episode was done to write him off of AEW television for the foreseeable future. According to Fightful Select, an outlet said that they believed last Friday’s Rampage taping was Matthews’ “last night” in the company. However, this has not been confirmed.
Fightful Select also is reporting WWE recently sent feelers out to FTR, Swerve Strickland, and Malakai Black. Black received a conditional release from AEW. It should be noted that Matthews is said to be in a relationship with current WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley.
