During WWE Monday Night Raw, it was announced Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins in at Fight Pit Match at Extreme Rules. The event will take place on Saturday, October 8 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.
The match was set up on Raw when Riddle and Rollins brawled backstage. Rollins agreed to face Riddle in a rematch, and Riddle then named Extreme Rules as the place. He further said he wanted to face Rollins in a Fight Pit match.
Fight Pit matches originally took place in NXT with a steel cage surrounding the ring held in WWE NXT, The match features a steel cage surrounding the ring with no turnbuckles and no ring ring ropes. There is also a platform on the top of the steel cage. The match can only be won by submission or being unable to make the ten count.
Riddle was in the very first Fight Pit in May 2020, when he faced Timothy Thatcher. WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was the guest referee for the match. The second Fight Pit took in January 2021, with Tommaso Ciampa against Timothy Thatcher inside the Fight Pit.
WWE Extreme Rules will stream live on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network Everywhere else, Saturday, October 8, beginning at 8:00 pm ET.
