CM Punk undergoes surgery to repair torn triceps suffered at All Out

According to a report by F4WOnline, CM Punk underwent surgery earlier this week to repair a torn left triceps suffered during last Sunday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view.

The report notes Punk’s doctor recommended the surgery happen quickly to avoid muscle atrophy, and that the recovery time from the surgery is expected to be eight months.

Punk defeated Jon Moxley in the main event of All Out to win the World Championship for a second time. However, he was stripped of the title without being mentioned by name by Tony Khan, at the start of Dynamite this past Wednesday. Punk being stripped of the title was the result of a backstage fight involving Punk, The Young Bucks, Ace Steel and Kenny Omega, after Punk called out Hangman Adam Page, “The EVP’s” and his former friend Colt Cabana, during the All Out media scrum that followed the event. The belief is Punk, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are all suspended. However, Tony Khan still has yet to comment on the situation as an investigation is underway.

A tournament to crown a brand new AEW World Champion began this past Wednesday on Dynamite and continued during Friday’s episode of Rampage. The tournament finals are scheduled to take place on the Grand Slam episode of Dynamite, which will take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY on September 23.

This is Punk’s second surgery in just a few months, as underwent surgery earlier this summer to repair a broken foot he suffered on the June 1 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Punk made a surprise return at the end of the August 24 episode of AEW Dynamite.
