WWE Raw 9/5/22: Former champion returns; Another Superstar gets his first name back

Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman made his return to WWE Raw during the September 5 Labor Day episode. Strowman came out and interrupted the Fatal Four-Way Match to determine the No. 1 contenders for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles.

Strowman was released by WWE back on June 2, 2021. His last match in WWE took place at the 2021 WrestleMania Backlash when he challenged for the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match that featured Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.

It was also announced during Raw, that Strowman is scheduled to appear on this Friday night’s WWE SmackDown live on FOX.

After he was released from WWE release, Strowman began using his real name Adam Scherr and was part of EC3’s Control Your Narrative wrestling promotion. He also appeared at ROH Final Battle 2021.

Control Your Narrative took to Twitter on Monday to wish Adam Scherr the best in his return to WWE as Braun Strowman.

We had reported that the 39-year-old Strowman was scheduled to make his return to WWE.

Another WWE Superstar gets his first name back

During a backstage segment with The Miz on the September 5 Labor Day episode of WWE Raw, Ciampa was referred to as Tommaso Ciampa, thus getting his first name back.

Ciampa had his first name dropped after he was called up to the main roster from NXT 2.0, following WrestleMania 38 this past April.
