News coming out of WWE SmackDown: Change to WrestleMania Backlash Match; New matches for next week

The match to crown the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions will not be taking place at WrestleMania Backlash as originally planned.

WWE had previously announced SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos and Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro would square off in a Winners Take All Tag Team Title Unification Match at WrestleMania Backlash. There was an angle during the contract signing that was done on Friday night’s SmackDown that changed the match to RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre vs. The Usos and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

A brawl broke out before the match was to be made official. Roman Reigns came down to the ring as The Usos gave a beat down to Randy Orton and Riddle. In the ring, Reigns grabbed the contract, ripped it up and then shoved it down Riddle’s mouth. It was at this point when music hit and out came McIntyre to make the save.

In a backstage segment, Paul Heyman approached Adam Pearce and talked him into making changing the Winners Take All into non-title a six-man tag match. WWE later confirmed the for WrestleMania Backlash, which takes place on May 8 in Providence, RI.

After a post-match angle on Friday night’s SmackDown, with Ridge Holland putting Kofi Kingston through a table, WWE has announced a tables match for next week’s show, with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods vs. Sheamus and Ridge Holland.

Also next week, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks and Shayna Baszler will square off in singles competition. This match comes after Naomi defeated Baszler on this week’s episode. Baszler and Natalya then attacked Naomi and Banks after the match ended.

Banks and Naomi are scheduled to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Baszler and Natalya on the May 13 episode of SmackDown.
