Just several hours ahead of tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite live from Dailys Place in Jacksonville, Florida, there has been a lot of speculation as to what Tony Khan’s “massive announcement” could be. Khan had even referred to it as “historic.”
Fightful Select is reporting that there has been talk among other wrestling promotions that Khan will announce the purchase of Ring of Honor, which has been on hiatus since December. However, ROH is returning with a Supercard of Honor show and their own Hall of Fame during WrestleMania weekend in the Dallas, Texas area.
ROH play by play announcer Ian Riccaboni announced earlier today that the company is holding television tapings at 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA on April 10, as part of their re-launch. He also noted the company will have an entirely different look and feel to it.
ROH purchase price numbers that I have seen today range from $20 to $40 million.
Other speculation has been that Khan will announce a streaming service deal with HBO Max, or that AEW and another promotion or multiple promotions will hold some type of Supershow event, along with more signed free agents.
And finally, yes Shane McMahon’s name is s floating around as a possibility with some type of business deal between Shane and AEW.
Whatever it will be, it needs to massive, and not another lackluster announcement. If Khan doesn’t deliver, he will lose fans and see the ratings drop on TBS and TNT.
We will have live coverage of tonight’s AEW Dynamite with Josh Boutwell, beginning at 8:00 pm ET/7:00 pm CT.
