UPDATE 2:57 PM ET
Beth Hardy, the wife of Jeff issued the following statement on Twitter:
*******
Jeff Hardy has reportedly been released by WWE.
Hardy’s release from WWE was first reported by Fightful, and is also now being reported by several media sources, including the New York Post.
As of this report, no other details are known, other than “WWE offered Jeff Hardy help and rehab and it was not accepted.”
Hardy was sent home following a WWE Supershow live event in Edinburg, Texas, where he teamed with Xavier Woods and Drew McIntyre against Roman Reigns and The Usos. As the match went on, Hardy then became sluggish. After a hot tag, he left the ring, and jumped over the barrier and took off through the crowd, and did not return.
Hardy was replaced by Rey Mysterio at last Sunday’s Supershow event in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Matt Hardy noted on his Twitch Channel that he had spoken with Jeff and that he was “at home and doing okay.”
Hardy, 44, was in his third run with WWE.
In 2011, he spent ten days in jail for a 2009 drug bust and was arrested for trafficking controlled prescription pills.
In July 2019 he was arrested for public intoxication, and in October 2019, he was arrested and charged with a DUI in North Carolina.
