Konnan Makes Very Serious Accusations Against AAA

In this week’s episode of Konnan’s Spanish language “Podcast Boom” episode Konnan was some very, very serious accusations against AAA including sexual harassment. He first made a much more minor accusation claiming that AAA only kept Canadian wrestler Jennifer Blake around as long as they did because Dorian Roldan “had the hots” for her and kept her for that reason. Konnan then moved onto the sexual harassment claims. Referee Copetes Salazar is a part of the AAA “programming department” meaning he (and two other employees) are responsible for booking who is on each show (not that they book the storylines and feuds but are responsible for booking the guys and girls on each house show and TV taping). Konnan said that Lady Maravilla left AAA because Copetes demanded that she sleep with him if she wanted to get booked on more shows. Konnan claimed that he, when still with AAA, had reported to Dorian that Copetes had harassed multiple women. He claimed that Copetes had even stalked the girlfriends of both Sean Waltman and Teddy Hart and had recently been going after Goya Kong (who is married as well to another luchador) before she got pregnant and left AAA. Konnan said that Christina Von Eerie left AAA because she got tired of Copetes “stalking” her. Konnan said he also went to Marisela Pena about the issues and she told him that she would look into it, but when Copetes denied the allegations she simply dropped it. He said that Marisela didn’t even bother to speak to the women. He also claimed that Fabi Apache looks down at the other women on the roster, other than her sister, and roughs them up in training and in the ring because she looks at them as “stupid and inferior” in the ring. The accusations against Copetes, and AAA for sweeping it under the rug, are very big and are very bad. If these things starts to pick up traction in the Mexican media and women actually start to speak out about it this could be big trouble for AAA. Hopefully, at the least, this will make AAA put a stop to it but they should honestly be ashamed if even half of this is true.

AAA Confirms Lucha World Cup iPPV

At this week’s “Lucha World Cup” press conference Dorian Roldan confirmed that both events will air live on iPPV. The price will be 250 Mexican Pesos for Mexican fans and $19 for American fans to order both shows. You can’t order just one show but at that price it is hard to beat as long as the stream isn’t horrible. The weird thing is that 250 Mexican Pesos are a little more than $13 so they are charging American fans more. There will be both English and Spanish commentary. Lucha Underground ring announcer Melissa Santos would be taking part in the event, as the ring announcer I would imagine. AAA also revealed that the leader of the temple, Dario Cueto, will be appearing at the Lucha World Cup which should be pretty interesting.

6) Triple Threat Extreme Rules Match: Pagano def. Psycho Clown & Pentagon Jr.
* NOTES *
– Apache snatched Venum’s mask off after the opener and continued to beat him up as well.
– Mari and Fabi want a AAA Tag Title shot so in their very next match they lose to Hiedra and Taya. The rudo referee, Tirantes, helped Taya pin Mari and the Apaches still challenged Averno and Chessman after the match. AAA’s booking is so awful that it is not even funny.
– Bengala II is Super Nova in a new gimmick. Fenix was injured and unable to wrestle so Bengala II replaced him. Fabi and Mari came out and distracted Averno leading to Bengala getting the pin. The Apaches challenged Averno and Chessman to put up their titles against them again and again Averno refused.
– In the Main Event Pagano put Psycho through a table and got the pin. Los Fronterizos attacked Pentagon after the match.

CMLL

Dragon Lee Re-Injures Knee

This week CMLL star Dragon Lee re-injured his knee in what CMLL called another “knee sprain.” They claim he will be out for three weeks but considered the previous injure he may need to rest a bit longer. If he still manages to escape surgery after reinjuring the knee he will be very lucky. Despite saying that he would need three weeks to recover from this injury CMLL already has him listed on lineups for this upcoming weekend.

CMLL Announces Return of Gran Prix

This week CMLL announced that the “International Gran Prix Tournament” will be returning 07/01 at Arena Mexico and it is believed that the show will be an iPPV. The tournament will likely be a Torneo Cibernetico featuring a Team Mexico vs. Team Rest of the World. It’s not surprising CMLL is doing this with AAA’s Lucha World Cup coming up. CMLL has announced stars from Tonga, New Zealand, United States, and Japan being a part of the International team. Team Mexico was revealed as Diamante Azul, Volador Jr., Shocker, Rey Escorpion, Mephisto, Ultimo Guerrero, Maximo, & Rush while Team International will be Sam Elias (USA), Johnny Idol (New Zealand), Tama Tonga (Tonga), Tanga Roa (Tonga), Michael Elgin (USA), KUSHIDA (Japan), Shigeo Okumura (Japan), and Marco Corleone (USA). Johnny Idol is only 23 years old and has spent the last several months in Mexico working for various promotions including UWE, DTU, and CaraLucha. Sam Elias is from America and was trained by WWE’s Corey Graves and was previously a developmental wrestler in WWE. He has also worked for DTU and UWE in Mexico and TNA in America as well as various promotions in England. Tama Tonga spent the last four months of both 2012 and 2013 in Mexico working for CMLL and even won the CMLL Tag Team Titles with El Terrible during that time. Tanga Roa worked in WWE as Camacho and for TNA as Micah before coming to New Japan. He has never worked in Mexico before. They are brothers and the son of Haku, who was a part of the first ever International Grand Prix in the 90’s. They have spent the last several months in New Japan together as members of the Bullet Club (and their team name is Guerrillas of Destiny) and won the IWGP Tag Team Titles recently as well. Michael Elgin works for both ROH and NJPW and is a great performer and a huge power house though he has never worked in Mexico before. KUSHIDA is one of the best technical wrestlers in the world and is currently the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion in NJPW. He has worked very briefly in Mexico before for both AULL and IWRG. It is insane that ROH and NJPW have this big partnership and CMLL has the same partnership with NJPW yet the only person from ROH taking part in a tournament like this is a guy that is also signed with NJPW (and very obviously being sent by NJPW). This would be a perfect place for CMLL to use a couple of ROH guys yet they use a couple of Indy wrestlers from America instead, unknown Indy guys at that.

WWE Interested in Volador and Rush

This week’s SuperLuchas Magazine claims that WWE is interested in signing both Volador Jr. and Rush. They also claimed that WWE had previously wanted to sign Volador and La Sombra (who is currently with WWE) for the Los Matadores gimmick that Primo and Epico had to suffer through with Mascarita Dorada as their mascot El Torito. That would have been so awful.

Volador In Japan

New Japan’s Best of Super Juniors Tournament is well underway and CMLL’s Volador Jr. and AAA/Lucha Underground’s Ricochet/Prince Puma are both taking part in it. Volador is currently tied for second place in Block B with four points while Ricochet is the leader of Block B with six points. The two most exciting matches left in the tournament are Volador vs. Ricochet (06/05) and Volador vs. Will Ospreay (06/06).

Becoming A Luchador

Actor and YouTuber Eric Ochoa has started a new project on YouTube called “Becoming a Luchador.” He is going to be airing footage of his training to become a luchador which is all leading up to him performing in a match. He is being trained during these sessions by legendary California based luchador Super Boy. Super Boy wrestled a lot in Los Angeles, primarily for WWA, as well as in Japan (for Michinoku Pro) and Mexico (IWRG) and even in WCW very briefly. His father was a luchador and all of his sons are luchadors. You can actually see his sons in the beginning of the first episode simulating a match for Ochoa. At first it looked like the series was going to be a bit of a joke and Ochoa definitely seemed to be taking things lightly, but Super Boy worked him extremely hard and showed him how difficult it was going to be to even come close to getting in the ring for an actual match was going to be. Ochoa will be uploading a new episode every Saturday on his channel leading up to his first match. You can see the first episode at the link below:

LUCHA SPOTLIGHT
LUCHA LOOT REVIEW

Masked Republic and CrateJoy have combined to release a monthly “loot crate” called “Lucha Loot” to provide Lucha fans with an awesome way to get new Lucha products every single month. If you are unfamiliar with “loot crate” it is a subscription service every month that brings different products each month to your doorstep. You never know exactly what you are going to get until it arrives but the products typically range from t-shirts to DVDs to masks to stickers to autographed merchandise and a whole lot more.

Lucha Loot offers both a standard package and a “deluxe booty” package that brings even more “loot” to your door. The standard package is well worth the $20 price tag, considering the amount of merchandise you get, but the $30 deluxe booty is the way to go with Lucha Loot as you get even more Lucha goodness.

This month the standard edition Lucha Loot received this month’s Rudo Can’t Fail issue, the original Villano mask, a “Freestyle Mexican Wrestler” lucha shirt, autographed Lince Dorado 8×10, and a beautiful sticker of CMLL star Guerrero Maya Jr.’s mask.

The deluxe booty receives all of those goodies except the t-shirt is Dragon Azteca Jr./Rey Horus’ Masked Republic shirt and it also includes an awesome Rudo’s Lucha Libre Gym drawstring bag, Masked Republic mousepad, a postcard featuring a watercolor painting of Lucha Underground’s Mil Muertes, and a DVD of AIW’s “Gauntlet For The Gold” event that featured Pentagon Jr. vs. ROH’s Raymond Rowe.

“Rudo Can’t Fail” is the world’s only English language Lucha Libre magazine that comes monthly, and “Lucha Loot” is certainly the best way to get it to your doorstep, and features some of the best writers in all of Lucha. I don’t just say that because I am a staff writer for the magazine because there are far more impressive writers than myself that are featured every month. “Rudo Can’t Fail” features show results, special features on luchadors and promotions, luchador interviews, awesome lucha themed comic strips, and incredible pictures throughout the magazine. It has been an honor for me to write for the publication and I hope to continue for as long as possible. This month’s featured stories are special features on some of the most storied Lucha families in Lucha which I think everyone will enjoy.

Every month the Lucha masks are one of the cooler aspects of these “Lucha Loot” boxes as it is always great to see who you receive each month. So far I have received Dr. Wagner Jr., Solar, Fenix, Los Villanos, and more in my boxes. This month is the legendary Los Villano mask which is an awesome addition to any Lucha mask collection. The deluxe t-shirt is one of my personal favorite t-shirts that Masked Republic has released in Rey Horus’ official shirt. Rey Horus/Dragon Azteca Jr. is one of my favorite young luchadors and I love the t-shirt which is a beautiful design of his mask.

The autographed 8×10’s are awesome each month and this month features Lince Dorado, who is preparing for his WWE Cruiserweight Classic appearance this summer, and it actually features him in his gear for his alter ego “Balam” which I love. CMLL star Guerrero Maya Jr. has one of the coolest t-shirts at Masked Republic’s online shop, LuchaShop.com, and this month features a beautiful sticker based on an Urban Aztec (an unbelievable artist) design of Maya’s mask.

The Rudos Gym bag and Masked Republic mouse pads are awesome bonuses in the Deluxe Box, and the OffEarthArt’s watercolor painting postcard featuring Lucha Underground stars each month is quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of the Lucha Loot. The paintings are terrific and I have actually started to put them together in a frame to show them all off. This month’s DVD, each Deluxe Booty receives a different DVD each month, is the great AIW event from a few months ago that featured Pentagon Jr.’s slugfest with ROH’s powerhouse Raymond Rowe which is worth the price of the Lucha Loot itself!

If you are a Lucha Libre fan or even just a wrestling fan then “Lucha Loot” is definitely for you. There is no way to get this OFFICIAL Lucha merchandise for this price tag anywhere else. The standard booty is $20 and the deluxe booty is $30. If you want to subscribe to the Lucha Loot just visit their website: https://luchaloot.cratejoy.com/subscribe/.

Also, for even more Lucha goodness visit my favorite online store, LuchaShop.com. You can OFFICIAL merchandise from stars like former TNA star TJP (Manik/TJ Perkins), AAA/Lucha Underground stars Brian Cage, Dr. Wagner Jr., Texano Jr., Perros del Mal, and Pentagon Jr., DTU’s Aeroboy, CMLL stars Guerrero Maya Jr., Los Ingobernables, Puma King, and Dragon Lee as well as L.A. Park, Rey Misterio Jr., Psicosis, Rey Horus, and more! You can get t-shirts, DVDs, masks (LuchaShop even features ring worn official masks), posters, hats, keychains, mugs, and more! The current official pro style masks offered at the site are Super Nova, Solar I, Dragon Lee, Puma King, L.A. Park, and Aeroboy. In the past LuchaShop has featured ring worn autographed Pentagon Jr. masks so be on the lookout for that because I am sure those will be back in stock soon as well.
