Garza Jr. to WWE?
In this week’s Wrestling Observer the newsletter claims that AAA star Garza Jr. is either going to be coming into WWE to take part in the upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series or is getting a full blown WWE try out (maybe both?). He also said that several luchadors in Mexico are on WWE’s radar for the upcoming cruiserweight tournament as expected.
Misterio In Canada
Lucha Underground’s Rey Misterio Jr. will be appearing at Canadian promotion, IWS Wrestling’s, event on 03/05 in a “Fans Bring The Weapons Match” against Mike Bailey.
Lucha Underground Announces First Live Event
This week Lucha Underground announced that they will run their very first live event, away from The Temple, on 03/15 in Austin, Texas as part of a Lucha Underground panel at this year’s SXSW Festival. Rey Misterio Jr., Dorian Roldan, and Eric Van Wagenen will be a part of the panel, and likely part of the matches as well, that will take place before the event. All the tickets for the event are already sold out.
AAA Coming to Texas
This week it was announced that a local promoter in Dallas, TX is bringing in AAA for an event at Dallas, Texas’ Rocket Center on 03/12 (The night after Rey de Reyes and day before Lucha Underground begins taping Season 3). Texano Jr., El Mesias, Pentagon Jr., Hijo del Fantasma, Sexy Star (probably not happening now), Bengala, Drago, Fenix, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans, Taya Valkyrie, Pimpinela Escarlata, and former AAA star Teddy Hart will be appearing.
AAA Stars Coming to WrestleCon
WrestleCon announced this week that AAA/Lucha Underground stars Pentagon Jr., Drago, and Fireball/Flamita are coming in for the WrestleCon during WrestleMania weekend on 04/01 and 04/02. They will likely be wrestling at multiple shows that weekend, along with signing autographs, and will be accompanied by more AAA stars that have not been announced yet. I would imagine Fenix, Aerostar, and Hijo del Fantasma/King Cuerno could be appearing at WrestleCon as well. Pentagon will also be appearing along with Fenix, Tinieblas Jr., and Blue Demon Jr. on a live event in Cicero, IL on 04/03. Pentagon will also be working for an Indy in San Diego on 04/30.
Sexy Star Leaves AAA
This week the Wrestling Observer claims that Sexy Star called AAA and told them that she was retiring from wrestling so she is officially done with the promotion. It is unclear whether or not she is leaving Lucha Underground as well.

CMLL Signs Two Hair Matches
This week CMLL held a press conference to announce a double main event for the 03/18 “Homenaje a Dos Leyendas” event which will be Negro Casas vs. Volador Jr. in a Hair vs. Hair Match and Maximo vs. Rush in a Hair vs. Hair Match. Volador and Casas should be an amazing match and they have been feuding since 2016 started. Rush and Maximo just started feuding a few weeks ago so it is odd to see that match get signed so quick. Both Casas and Maximo have already had Hair Matches this year. Negro Casas defeated Volador’s father Super Parka to take his hair on 01/01 and Maximo took Kamaitachi’s hair on that same event. They also announced a huge Mexico vs. Japan Atomicos match as Kamaitachi, Shigeo Okumura, Fuijin, & Raijin will face Mascara Dorada, Mistico II, Dragon Lee, and Valiente.
Thunder Injured
CMLL revealed this week that Thunder underwent knee surgery recently and will be out “for some time” which at least rescues us from having to see him stink up matches for a little while at least.
