This week AAA announced that the postponed “Guerra de Titanes” event will now take place on 01/22 in Mexico City. Neither Rey Misterio Jr. or Johnny Mundo, who were originally in the Main Event of that event, are listed as appearing thus far. AAA should be announcing a card soon. 

 

AAA/Lucha Underground star Angelico revealed, via Facebook, this week that he will be out of action for about six weeks due to an injury. He didn’t specify what the injury is but that means he will miss the next Lucha Underground taping and “Guerra de Titanes.” 

 

This week PWInsider revealed that Lucha Underground has begun telling wrestlers that they are planning to do WrestleMania weekend events in Texas. Nothing has been set just yet but it seems as though they are certainly going to do events there which would be the first non-L.A. events Lucha Underground has done thus far. 

 

 

This week CMLL announced that the 01/01 “Sin Piedad” iPPV will be headlined by a Double Main Event featuring two Hair vs. Hair Matches. Maximo faces Japanese star Kamaitachi in a Hair vs. Hair Match and two legends will face off in a Hair vs. Hair Match as Negro Casas battles Super Parka. Originally CMLL had scheduled Ultimo Guerrero vs. Thunder in a Mask vs. Hair Match for the event and the two just signed contracts for the event a few weeks ago. CMLL announced officially that the match has been postponed because Thunder requested “more time to prepare” for the event. It is likely because CMLL finally realized how much of a disaster that match will be.  The price for the iPPV should be $10 once again. 

 

Last week CMLL revealed that the previously announced Thunder vs. Ultimo Guerrero Mask vs. Mask Match for 01/01 had been “postponed”, but then a few days later someone in CMLL told Mexican publication Mas Lucha that Thunder had left CMLL. On Saturday Thunder posted a long rant on his Facebook, in perfect Spanish though he doesn’t speak Spanish, saying that he never asked CMLL for more time to prepare for his match with Guerrero and says that CMLL just simply doesn’t want to do the match. He also oddly claimed to have never signed the contract for the match even though there is video of him doing just that. Alexis Salazar, CMLL’s webmaster, then said the very same day that Thunder was still in CMLL. It is a huge, weird deal here. It seems that there is likely huge dissension inside of CMLL over Thunder. He is a horrible wrestler and has shown no sign of getting better. On the other hand he is a long term relationship with CMLL trainer Satanico’s daughter meaning he has friends in high places despite there being a lot of people behind the scenes that feels that Thunder should be nowhere near the spot he is in in CMLL. Obviously someone convinced the right person of how terrible the match with Guerrero would be, possibly Guerrero himself, and had the match removed.
