Jason Namako’s Ring of Honor TV Review
June 24, 2015
Recap by: Jason Namako of Wrestleview.com
Coming off the heels of last Friday’s Best in the World PPV, Ring of Honor on Destination America did not have follow-up from that show, instead this week was the final week of shows from the “Global Wars” tapings in Toronto from May featuring New Japan talent. Virtual Code of Honor out of the way, let’s get to thoughts of this week’s show.
Roderick Strong vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – Very good match that closed up Strong’s sensational “try-out” period for a potential New Japan gig in the future. This came off the heels of the ROH MOTY candidate Strong had with Tanahashi in Philly and he had just as good off a match with Nakamura. Its such a shame that Strong did not get pegged for the G-1 Climax this year as he has been on a tear so far in 2015, but hopefully his impressive performances against tip-top New Japan talent will garner him a future tour of New Japan by the end of 2015. Good stuff here.
Michael Elgin vs. Gedo – Simple showcase for Elgin against the New Japan power broker. Guess having a simple match with Gedo got Elgin in G-1? I dunno any other reason why it was Elgin pegged to be the ROH rep over Strong than that. This was fine to spotlight Elgin, but that’s about it.
Kazuchika Okada & RPG Vice vs. AJ Styles & The Young Bucks – Holy cow what a main event 6-Man Tag. Cannot put into words how good this was, all I can say is you all need to go search out this match and check it out. Great preview for the respective matches at the next New Japan iPPV in July, all 6 men busted their tails off to send the Toronto crowd home with something to remember from these tapings. This was AWESOME!

Overall, even though there was no follow-up on the Best in the World PPV due to how the airing of the Global Wars TV Tapings panned out, what viewers got instead was a sensational one hour of top-notch pro wrestling. Go watch this show, it will breeze right by and you will have so much fun doing it, I guarantee you.
After one more virtual Code of Honor, I bid you aideu for this week. Hope you enjoyed reading and I’ll see you next week for a special “War of the Worlds Road Rage” edition of Ring of Honor Wrestling on Destination America! Have a good one!
