Below are the quick results with some highlights from Friday night’s AEW Rampage Fyter Fest Week 1 that aired on TNT.
Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and Chris Jericho were on commentary.
Malakai Black and Brody King defeated Alex Reynolds & John Silver when they nailed Reynolds with Dante’s Inferno. As Black and King were leaving, Darby Allin dove off one of the tunnels and attacked King. Black was going to get involved but Sting came out and faced off with him as King and Darby brawled.
ROH Champion Jonathan Gresham forced Lee Moriarty to tap out. Bobby Cruise was the ring announcer for the match.
Post-Match: Tony Schiavone was in the ring with Tully Blanchard and Jonathan Gresham. Gresham said the fans will see his face on television all the time because he will out-wrestle all the fan favorites. Blanchard then told Gresham that he did a fabulous job and is the best today. Claudio Castagnoli’s music then hits. He came to the ring and stared down Gresham.
There was a backstage segment with Christopher Daniels. He said that for someone like himself that has wrestled Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal should know how powerful Joe is. Daniels then challenged Lethal to a match.
Athena and Kris Statlander defeated Charlotte & Robyn Renegade. Leila Grey, Jade Cargill and Kiera Hogan got involved after and laid out Athena and Statlander.
During a backstage interview by Lexy Nair with Lee Moriarty and Matt Sydal – Stokley Hathaway walked in and asked Sydal what he will do for Moriarty. Sydal told Hathaway that Moriarty does not need him and then told Hathaway to go away. Sydal then told Moroarty that he set up a match for him next week against Dante Martin.
Tony Schiavone was in the ring with the Gunn Club. He asked them why they turned on the Acclaimed last week. Billy said that he treated them like his own kids but there comes a time when ‘Daddy has to drop the hammer’. The Acclaimed’s music then played as they came to the ring. They hit the ring and Billy told them to scissor him one more time. Bowens then superkicked Billy and The Acclaimed then hit Austin and Colten out of the ring. Caster grabbed a mic and cut a rap promo on The Gunn Club. The Acclaimed then challenged them to a match at the show, but the Gunn Club told them no.
The Lucha Brothers defeated Private Party.
