Injury reportedly leads to change of plans for AEW World Tag Title Match at Dynasty

According to Dave Meltzer in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an injury to Brian Cage has led to a change of plans for AEW World Tag Team Title Match at the April 6 Dynasty pay-per-view.

AEW is now going with Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin defending the World Tag Team Titles against The Learning Tree’s Big Bill and Bryan Keith. Originally it was going to be Lance Archer and Brian Cage challenging for the titles. However, Cage is said to be dealing with a knee injury he suffered at a independent show back on March 20.

On this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, the build to the new matchup began when Bill and Keith came out and issued a challenge to Lashley and Benjamin. This was after Chris Jericho had told Bill and Keith they needed to step up and prove their worth after all the recent loses. During the segment, MVP told Bill and Keith they will need to win a match before they will be given their title opportunity.

Bill and Keith are scheduled to take on Top Flight this Saturday on Collision at the UW – Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

F4WOnline also notes that a match between Cage and Rich Swann was scheduled for Chris Bey’s benefit show which took place on March 23, but due to Cage’s injury, Ricochet ended up taking on Swann instead.
