Fightful Select has provided an update on the rumors that AEW forgot to ship the correct size ring for Grand Slam Australia.
Following the Grand Slam taping, rumors began on social media that AEW did not properly calculate freight times for Brisbane and then had to scramble at the last minute to borrow a ring from an independent promotion.
Fightful Select notes that these rumors are completely untrue.
The report notes that AEW typically uses a 20×20 ring in the United States, but does not transport its rings overseas. It was also said that using an 18×18 ring was the intention all along, as this is the standard size within the industry. TNA uses an 18×18 ring. In addition, the Sinclair owned ROH, WCW and ECW also used the 18×18 ring. It was added that other rumors and claims of the ring being 16×16 are also untrue and that most of the AEW talent have a lot of experience using the 18×18 ring size.
Fightful Select further added that AEW used an 18×18 ring for the Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa Steel Cage Match at Dynamite Grand Slam back in March of 2022.
