AEW championship to be defended at MAPLE LEAF PRO event

MAPLE LEAF PRO Wrestling has confirmed that the AEW International Championship will defended on night two of their official launch event, Forged in Excellence, when Konosuke Takeshita defends against Josh Alexander.

Takeshita won the championship at Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream, defeating former champion Will Ospreay and Ricochet in a three-way match after the involvement of Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher.

The title opportunity comes to Alexander in light of a recent defeat against Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship at the company’s Emergence event in August.

MAPLE LEAF PRO Wrestling, based in Canada, is a revival of the old Maple Leaf Wrestling brand currently run by Scott D’Amore, coming off the end of his involvement in TNA earlier this year.

Forged in Excellence emanates from St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, on October 19 and October 20, with both nights airing on pay-per-view through TrillerTV.
