Report: New update on the status of two AEW stars

A new report from Wrestling Observer has provided new updates on two of AEW’s stars, who have not been seen in roughly a month.

Dave Meltzer noted that Jon Moxley has been granted some time off from AEW after Forbidden Door, losing the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship to Tetsuya Naito to end a 79-day reign with the title per F4WOnline.

Buddy Matthews was also confirmed to have signed a “very lucrative deal” to remain with the company, with Meltzer addressing the circumstances:

Regarding stories this week about Buddy Matthews signing a new deal, we’ve been told this was agreed to months ago. He had tried to give notice at one point but AEW wasn’t going to release anyone to go to WWE. Tony Khan since then offered him a new very lucrative deal and he agreed to it.

The former AEW World Trios Champion has taken time off since mid-June, recently getting married to WWE star Rhea Ripley.
