Top AEW VP reportedly done with the company at the end of this year

Per Fightful Select, Rafael Morffi – AEW’s Vice President Vice President of Live Events and Touring since 2019, is reportedly done with the company at the end of this year.

The report also notes that Morffi is expected to pursue other interests starting in 2024. Furthermore it was that while the news of Morfii’s departure from AEW had been talked about within the industry, the news was not made known at last week’s Dynamite and Rampage taping.

According to PWInsider, Morffi accepted a senior executive position with Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, (where Morfi resides with his family). The report also notes Morffi is going to be splitting his duties between booking sports and entertainment events at the arena as well as working for the Brooklyn Nets’ owners.  Furthermore it was said that one of the reasons Morffi took the new job was the ability to remain closer to his family and not be constantly on the road. This was basically seen as an amazing offer and there there was no way he could pass on the opportunity.  Morffi will be missed by the company as he said to be well liked and respected.

Both PWInsider and F4WOnline added that Morffi gave his notice when AEW was in Montreal earlier this month.

Morffi also held the position of Senior Director of Live Events for TNA Wrestling and also worked previously for WWE as well.
