Tony Khan talks Bryan Danielson retirement, future AEW plans in Europe

In an interview with The Athletic, AEW President Tony Khan discussed a number of topics.

One focus of the interview was the impending end of Bryan Danielson’s full-time wrestling career, as recently announced by the American Dragon himself.

On what the final match for Danielson before stepping down could look like, Khan stated:

“Bryan and I made an agreement three years to the week before AEW All In 2024. The agreement was that Bryan would wrestle (full-time) for three years. Even three years in advance of the expiration of the agreement, I was already clawing for him to stay.

He will stay with us in spirit and sometimes, occasionally, make sporadic appearances with us. But the end of the full-time run with us is going to be in 2024.”

When asked about the possibility of other AEW events coming to the UK in the future, Khan stated that All In would be the only show in England this year before adding:

“I am not limiting us to other places outside of England, but I do think that’s a good guarantee for 2024. And if we make stops in other places around Europe or nearby, that could be beneficial and would make sense.

Making All In the sole focus of our English operation is really important, and looking at other places around Europe, or even around the UK; the possibilities are interesting. Eventually, I’d like to expand our English touring and do more events — but once we’ve established All In as the premier wrestling tradition.”
